GREAT DEBATE “The activism occurring in Hollywood should act as
inspiration for ways in which the Indian fi lm industry can
embrace the Time’s Up movement. For example, women
at the Golden Globes received praise and support from
powerful fi gures for their choice to wear black to show
solidarity with victims of sexual harassment and assault.
Their bold statement projected a loud and clear voice
that echoed to distant audiences, encouraging them
to also speak up and be heard. In Bollywood, silence
still persists and speaking up has often left victims
criticised for not having said anything sooner. I feel that
although the movement was founded in 2006, we’re just
beginning to recognise its global impact, and with time
its infl uence will grow signifi cantly.”
