How to prevent them?
Many dermatologists and experts say that there is no special elixir or mommy
balm that can prevent them. So don’t be fooled by claims on bottles and
packaging. Instead focus on taking care of stretch marks by keeping your skin
hydrated with rich lotion and cream. That way your skin will feel better, look
smoother and become more toned. When pregnant, skin hydration will also
help reduce itchiness that comes with a growing belly.
Who gets them?
• Approximately 90 percent of women will get them sometime after their
sixth or seventh month of pregnancy.
• Genetics plays a role too. If your mother had stretch marks, you are more
likely to have them too.
• If you have a lighter complexion, you tend to develop pinkish stretch

skin tone.
It’s simple, just change your mindset!
#LOVEYOURLINES
Go on social media and use the hashtag to get a glimpse of a million reasons to
love your scars with some beautiful bodies as inspiration.
MAKE PEACE WITH THE REASONS YOU
MAY HAVE THEM!
Did you give birth? Did you lose or gain
weight rapidly? What happened during
that period of your life? How did you grow
emotionally? Don’t look back with regret;
instead think of that time as a beautiful
phase in your life.
IF THE SCARS HAVE ALREADY FORMED, DON’T FALL FOR GIMMICKS
SUCH AS OVERPRICED CREAMS AND LASERS.
Though you may be able to improve the
appearance of scars, they will not completely
disappear. If you are pregnant, always double
check to ensure that you are using products that
are safe for you and your baby. For example,
retinoid, used for speeding up cell turnover
and stimulating new collagen growth, should
absolutely not be used if you are pregnant
or breastfeeding.
GAINING WEIGHT IS NOT ALWAYS
SOMETHING TO BE ASHAMED OF.
The changes in your body can be due to a variety of
reasons, such as hormonal changes, gaining muscles
from fi tness regimes, and even aging.
